The Fall campout is going to be held October 20,21,22
I hope you are all planning to send your boys to the camp and I look forward to seeing you there because this is what scouting is all about!

We will be at Camp Manatoc, meeting at the Gilwell Shelter. We will have Gilwell Cabin and Gilwell Pavilion.
Medical forms must be on file or brought to the site. Completed Health form (for anyone staying at the camp overnight including adults). Health forms must have a copy of your insurance card included.

Please bring a mess kit (eating utensils/plates/bowls/cup/water bottle) and rain gear.(warm clothing with layers)
We need the medical forms and a copy of your insurance card for this camp-out. Please bring them with you if you have already not turned them in. They are a BSA requirement for staying at camp.
We will be at Camp Manatoc, meeting at the Gilwell Pavilion (same place as always). The plan is to arrive Friday night after dinner (there will be NO FOOD cooked Friday night). We will be at camp setting up around 5-6:00. We will head over to the Haunted Hayride @7:30. Lights out at 10pm. Tiger Scouts have first call on the heated cabins. If you are a tiger mom, and planning on staying overnight in the cabin, please let us know! (There will be special accommodations, as the BSA does not allow co-ed bunking, unless you are tenting with your own child/children.)
Saturday will be packed full: starting at 7:30 breakfast and then from 9 to 11 am off to BB shooting and Archery! Parents are encouraged to stay and participate or you are welcome to leave the boys (Tiger parent must stay). We will be joined by Boy Scout Troop 155. They will help our Cubs have a great time with activities and a scavenger hunt. The game plan is to end around 5:30 for dinner. We will have a campfire Saturday night and lights out by 10:00. If you are not spending the night on Friday and are driving out on Saturday morning, please arrive before 8 am, so that we can check you in and then split the group up so that we can start heading to BB and Archery by 8:30.
Sunday morning we will have quick breakfast Pop Tarts / Cereal and basically spend the morning breaking down and cleaning up. We are usually gone by 10:00 or so.
See packing list at the bottom of this e-mail please read it carefully. We will not be bringing any paper plates, bowls or cups to camp this year. We are trying to minimize the waste and additional costs involved with all of the extra paper products.
Tips on sleeping in cold weather:
If you do not have a 20 degree rated sleeping bag or lower, you can line your sleeping bag with fleece blankets to increase the warmth. You will also need to make sure you are not sleeping on the ground directly, this can suck the warmth out of your sleeping bag. If you have insulated sleeping pads, bring them. A second sleeping bag to sleep on top of will also work.
Plan on changing all your clothes before getting into your sleeping bag, this means both underwear and socks. The clothes you are wearing during the day will be slightly damp just because you sweat all day long. You want to be as dry as possible since wetness can make you colder. Boys can be very self-conscious undressing around others, so tell them to change their underwear in their sleeping bag. It’s important to change, especially the socks because the drier they are, the warmer they will be. Have the boys sleep in a clean, unworn sweatpants, and unworn hooded sweatshirt. Tell your scouts to make sure they never get into their sleeping bag with dirty or wet clothes
Pack 3171 Cub Scout Campout Packing List
Only bring essentials and clothing. As a general rule, please make sure your boy has plenty of socks/shoes to change into. The boys will always find a way to get wet and muddy. Extra hats and gloves are also recommended.
Pack everything in a duffel or backpack. DO NOT bring toys or electronic devices. There will be plenty of activities to keep you busy!
Clothing: Dress in layers
- Boots. It’s very important that your feet stay dry. Expect rain.
- Socks, Underwear, Pants, shirts, Sweatshirts, Jacket, Rain coat or Poncho
- Cub Scout uniform shirt to be worn on Saturday.
- Sleeping bag or three blankets, pillow, fitted sheet to put on the mattress in the cabins.
Please bring a tent if you have one, there will be limited room in the cabins, and Tigers get first choice of cabin space.
- If you have your Wittlin’ Chit, you are allowed to bring a pocket knife.
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
Mess kit: There will be no paper plates, plastic utensils or Styrofoam cups available at the campout. Adults must have a mess kit as well as the boys.
- Water Bottle
- Mesh Bag big enough to hold all of your mess kit
- Completed Health form (for anyone staying at the camp overnight including adults). Health forms must have a copy of your insurance card included.
Your Den Leader may ask you to bring additional items. Be sure to check with them before leaving for camp.
